Howdy guys. This week has been something I like to call stressful. As we are aware, it is finals week. Although it is astounding that I am out of school soon, it still seems to be taking a lot out of me. I feel overwhelmed, unmotivated, uninspired, and terrified. Now that my little hiatus is over, we will hopefully be back and better than ever.
Let's be honest; I am not sure how we got to this point. The semester has gone by faster than ever, and it is freaking me out, just slightly. I think that we can all agree that nobody likes finals. That is why you have not seen too much of me lately, but I think I can whip up some quick and helpful tips so that we can all make it through this troubling time. So here is my five step guide to survive the week. 1. Schedule out your day As silly as it sounds, taking the time to manage your day will help. I make a to-do list every night before the day begins, so I wake up knowing what I need to do for the day. This practice helps me manage my time because I know what needs to be done as the day rolls around. It helps me from feeling stressed and lost so that I can accomplish my tasks. 2. Take breaks I know as much as we want to sit in front of our laptops and grind, it is not the best strategy. By looking at tasks and a screen for prolonged periods of time, you will eventually stop retaining the information. This makes completing assignments hard and dreadful. Take a five to ten-minute break every hour or so to make sure that you stay engaged with your assignment. 3. Plan your meal time While we are all facing deep into our computers, the best thing to remember is to eat. Food is fuel, and not eating means you are not getting the motivation you need. Budgeting out times where you can eat and not look at the screen is just as crucial as taking breaks. Seriously, I mean, you can't relax without food. It makes a huge difference. 4. Do something that brings you happiness once a day As much as you want to sit at your desk and grind out your work, the most important thing to do is something that brings you happiness. This week, in particular, does not bring people joy, so taking an hour or even two to get up and do something you love will bring you peace of mind. I usually spend my time shopping, so rip bank account, but it motivates me to continue to work. 5. Sleep I think this step is one that I find to be the hardest. I never have the time to take a moment and rest. I want to go as fast as possible to keep up with my work. But that is only hurting me. I am up at ungodly hours, making me too exhausted to put effort into my assignments. I think that this is why we all struggle the most, so this is the best tactic to ace your finals. In all honesty, I need to listen to my advice more, but this is the best way to manage your week. It is hard, especially when you are going through it all for the first time. Just relax and take a moment to realize that you can do it. Just take your time. As always, I am here for you. Just reach out. XOXO RACH

April showers, bring May- snowfalls? This spring season has been more chilly than usual, but that does not mean that we can't continue to daydream about our beautiful pastels and light wash denim. In PA, the weather has been pretty unpredictable lately, but I am hoping for the sun to shine through pretty soon! I am so excited for this season and cannot wait to embark on this spring and all the beautiful trends there are to come.
For starters, this season will be the season of denim. I am not sure what it is with me right now, but I cannot get enough denim. Whether it's denim shorts or jeans, it is an immediate add to the cart. I love colorful denim this year, and I have to owe it to my childhood nostalgia. Right now, there is something about colors and patterns that have a chokehold on me, and honestly, I am not mad about it. I am known to be in my neutrals and my lazy day outfits, but I could not get enough of the prints and bright colors this season. I will also continue to be wearing blazers. I do not know what it is with me, but I cannot pass on a good blazer. It is such an easy way to look classic without even trying hard. You can see it pictured above! I own probably more than the average person, but I am not mad about it. I find myself wearing them at least two times a week. and I love the way they make me feel. I feel glamorous without looking too out of place. I don't know, maybe it is just the inner fashion major in me. There is also something in the air with converse. I am obsessed with my black platform converse right now. Converse are just stunning and make everything too dang cute! I seem to gravitate towards them out of all my shoes, and I am so glad. I did not think I would love them this much, but wow, I do. Something you will always know about me is I love a good tiny top. There is something about how dainty, sexy, and feminine they are. I feel incredibly elegant every time I put one on my body. There is this one from garage especially gives me immense amounts of inner joy. I love it. If you follow me on Instagram (@fashionbyrel, shameless plug,) you know what I am talking about. There is so much to offer with these tops, and I feel amazing whenever I wear them. I have too many items I am looking forward to this season, and I could go on for ages. Let me know if you want this to be a series that you would be interested in because I love talking about this sort of thing. I hope to see you rocking your spring flings right now and that you showcase what you have been excited to wear. Fashion is all about self-expression, and you deserve that expression. xo, rachel Out with the boring and in with the bright. That is exactly how your blues will make you feel this spring season. The sky is your best inspiration. This color will elevate how you feel and bring out your best sense of style in the best way possible.
This spring season is one to be daring and bright. I know that spring is the perfect time to bust out that colorful shirt in the back of your closet so you can make a statement this season. In my personal opinion spring season is the color blue. Whether it is blue jeans, blue blazers, or even blue floral prints. All I see is blue this season. As we know, pastels are the rage when this time of year rolls around, but the color baby blue seems to always make its appearance. The dainty but empowering color compliments almost every person, making the vision pop even more. I find myself gravitating towards my light wash jean and powder blue tops more and more each year. I think that it is time for you to bust it out yourself. Implementing pastel blue into your wardrobe will bright up your style without even applying any amount of effort. I see it almost as a minimal way to add some color to our staple neutrals. I know that this sounds like a bunch of rambling, but seriously, look at that closet of yours. I know you have tons of blue that have not seen the sun in a while. Take a minute, try it on, and look at yourself. I know you look gorgeous- I can see it from the screen! Obviously, denim is always a staple in our closets, but right now, it has to be one of the best transition pieces you can wear for spring. And what color is denim usually? BLUE! You all have it, and now you have to put it to use. The color blue is the perfect shade to highlight our best features making you feel your hottest this spring. I know it sounds silly, but you got to trust me on this one. Blue is your color- there is a shade for everyone. So give it a try and test the waters. I want to see all of you beautiful people rocking with your spring blues, and make sure you tag me so I can see it. I hope that you all see the vision like I do. Xoxo, Rach Shopping. Oh goodness, a cure for the soul. The world is only a better place with shopping in it. But is there a time when you can do too much shopping? Overconsumption is an enormous issue when it comes to people like me, well, like us.
As someone who studies fashion and has a passion for it, it comes to a point when enough is enough. I will admit, I am one to overbuy just because something catches my eye in a store. Sometimes I wear it once, or sometimes I wear it a bunch, it depends. But- that is a problem that you and I need to solve. I have become more conscious of my sustainability ever since I began buying clothes that I was never wearing. Whether that be because it is on sale or because I could think of one random article of clothing it would look good with. That should never be the case. I started to implement a capsule wardrobe into my life, and it has to be the best thing I could have ever done. To begin, I pick out a couple of colors that would add a pop to my neutral outfits. For instance, this spring, I have been buying a lot of rich oranges and blues. These colors mesh well with my browns, blacks, whites, and creams. The best part is making unlimited outfits without thinking about what I am going to wear. The endless combinations ease anxiety in the morning. I only grab pieces that I am dying to have and not ones I know someone would love more. I cheat on my color scheme every once in a while, but I try to stay consistent as best as I can. I have also been doing a lot of one thing in, another thing out. I try to benefit those around me by letting them sort through my "mini-mall," but sometimes, I donate to those in need. Implementing this tactic into my shopping habits helps limit how much I am buying and how much I am donating. It also helps save money on hangers. To be honest, being shopping conscious is the best outlook on shopping. I have started to save so much money while being as stylish as I can. I have implemented this ideology into my shopping habits and have seen results I did not know were possible. I now see myself not having the ultimate urge to shop recklessly. That is because it is something that I knew I needed to get a handle on. I see myself as someone who takes pride in what I buy and not someone who needs everything I "like." Be conscious, and shop smart. Best decision I have ever made. Xoxo Rachel Hello Hello Hello!
Long time, no chat! I thought we would kick off the blog season with some spring content. Since it is the end of the semester I have been a full-fledged mess, school has been kicking me in the leg recently. But- of course, I had to make time for you all. This spring is the season is all about the neutrals. When looking at spring- we think of the bright pastels and dainty florals, but this season is ALL about those brown tones. Over the past year, the emphasis on neutrals and basics has taken the world by storm. Everyone is raging over browns, tans, and creams because they are a perfect compliment to everyone. I am a HUGE fan and hope that this colorway never dies. When walking into stores recently, you see this specific colorway which is the bomb because it is all consistent. The monochromatic look is all the rage and such a great way to put together a cohesive look. The browns are great for autumns (a season in a color analysis) due to the warmth of the color. Every color in this colorway fits a season, so do not feel left out! When taking browns and neutrals into your wardrobe, you will feel calm and relaxed. That is because of the tones embedded within the colors. It makes picking out an outfit so easy because of how the colors melt into one another. It is a perfect way to make a subtle statement for this season. It is a different statement than past spring trends, but it is stunning because of the harsh and intense trends we have seen recently. It almost feels we are taking a breath of fresh air because Y2K is finally on the outs. There is not much of an emphasis on pulling together an intricate outfit instead of a more relaxed and effortless feel. I have started to develop my style around these colors, so I will link the items (and similar styles if no longer available), so you can see how they perfect fit they are into your wardrobe. I have found H&M to be my best outlet when looking to add basics and neutral tones into my wardrobe. Therefore, I will link a bunch of items for you. So, you know where to start. Neutrals bring out everyone's sense of style because of their diversity. You realize you have so many outfits to wear when you start to purchase these pieces. For the longest time, I thought that they were boring and useless- as I have matured, I realized how crucial they are. Welcoming these colors and basics into your wardrobe allows for freedom and easy accessibility so you can dress with ease, which makes fashion and style a lot less intimidating. Therefore, I am excited to see where this trend goes and what is to come. I hope you all stand with me and get hype for this neutrals movement! xo xo, with love. Well hello my lovely besties!!!
Wow, what a year it has been. I haven't talked to you guys in forever, and let me tell you I am SO excited to be back. Oh gees, I do not even know where to begin with my life. There is just so much that I have to catch you all up on. First thing first, I am now 20!! That is so scary but exciting. I am so excited to figure this whole life thing out, ya know! I am recently moved out of my parents house, therefore completing college all alone in my own space. Let me tell ya, it has been so nice to get a taste of adulthood but I do miss those home-cooked meals made by my mom. There is so much more but to be honest, that is the most exciting thing to happen to me in the past year. Now, let us get into what you are all looking for. An explanation. I knew that I always had a passion for blogging and social media, but never really knew what to do or how to do it. Then, it dawned on me, I need to pick up blogging again. I know, I know, it has been over a year since I have updated you guys on all things fashion, but I promise a juicy post will hit the market tomorrow! You guys have no idea what is to come. This is going to be interesting, I promise. But since I have decided to kick this thing back up I decided lets wipe away the old, and bring in the new. I have not had a lot of traction on here in the past year which is 100% my fault for going MIA out of nowhere, but can you really blame me? We were in the middle of a global pandemic and I was just starting college. There was no way that I could keep up with this thing! But now that I am adjusted, and it's almost been two years since I posted, I just though, let's bring this baby back. I don't want to bore you all with the details so I thought I would talk about some of my favorite of the month of March since it is APRIL now! CRAZY! That way you can see a little bit to what I have been up to. And of courseeee I will link anything that is tangible so you can get on the train! 1) CHIA SEED PUDDING. Oh my god guys, seriously this stuff is so bomb. I can't even start my day without eating a bowl of this stuff. It also is such an easy breakfast if your stomach cannot handle heavy amounts of food in the mornings like me. I would like to mention that I do NOT recommend it for anyone who suffers with texture issues because it will not be the most exciting thing for you to eat. I'll list my recipe below besties! RECIPE: two table spoons of chia seeds (I get mine from target but you can seriously get them pretty much anywhere) 1/4 cup of oat milk dash of maple syrup (at this point let it sit in the fridge over night, the following steps are done in the morning.) 4 fresh, cut up strawberries sprinkle of granola two scoops of vanilla greek yogurt drizzle with honey 2) MARC JACOBS DAISY. Seriously guys, the smell makes me feel like a princess. I adore it with every bone in my body. I may be biased because it is my first big girl perfume and it is basic, but c'mon it is a class. 3) BLAZERS. I recently seem to not be able to leave the house without a blazer on. I am physically obsessed. I have been LOVING the H&M ones recently and plan to continue buying them because they are the most comfortable and stylish things in the world. They make every outfit cute... I promise. Here is a link to my favorite and most recent one. |
